jan 1, 1635 - Boston Latin Grammar School
Description:
The Boston Latin Grammar School was the first American high school. It was only for the higher people in society and was meant to prepare men for college. It was mainly for students who were going into ministry or a career in law. This high school was also expensive so only the highest in society went and it was never even considered for the lower class. This was important at the time because it prepared boys for college and gave them more intense schooling before college. This was the first high school that we would now base our high schools off of. It was important for us to change and edit this high school type of learning but it was a good start.
