jan 1, 2001 - No Child Left Behind Act

Description:

The U.S. began to notice that many students were underachieving especially in poorer parts of the country. To help combat that the NCLB Act was put into place. This act required states to form a plan and policy to make sure all students develop basic skills while in school, specifically in reading and math. When this was created many students were not learning in school they were just coming and going, never taking anything in. With this new act, it ensured that all students would learn basic knowledge to be able to survive after school. I think today this is even more important. Many students do not go to college after high school so they need that basic learning developed in school. This act ensures that the learning will happen.
