apr 3, 1948 - Marshall Plan - Teresa
Description:
Secretary of State George C. Marshall proposed the Marshall Plan which intended to give economic aid to suffering western European countries. The plan was approved and put into action. The USA pumped billions of dollars into western European countries in hope that lifting them out of the poverty they faced post WW2 would keep them from turning to communism. It was a strategic move during the Cold War to both get the European economy back on its feet while also helping to contain communism to the east through successful western economies.
