apr 10, 1947 - Truman Doctrine

Description:

In spring of 1947, President Truman applied the containment policy for the first time in the eastern Mediterranean. The purpose of this doctrine was to support the free peoples who are resisting attempted subjugation by armed minorities. The doctrine involved sending US aid to Greece and Turkey to protect them from communism.
