this is the first time these games have been released outside of the gameboy line of consoles in a major capacity - all other releases are now considered inaccessible and archaic, so this is now considered to be the easiest way to play the trilogy.

unfortunately, it appears that the people responsible for bringing this series into HD didn't have the resources to do much aside from upscaling the 3DS port. as a result, this version of the game is lacking in lots of quality of life features introduced in other game collections, such as the ability to disable screen flashing and autoplay. all of the art in this version are scans of the initial drawings made by suekane kumiko, which were then downscaled to fit on the GBA and DS - in my personal opinion these sprites look considerably worse than the ones used in the handheld releases. it does seem to have retained the updated dialogue from the 3DS release, though.
