Description:

dai gyakuten saiban, known as the great ace attorney in the west, is a prequel duology. it follows phoenix wright/naruhodō ryūichi's great-great grandfather, naruhodō ryūnosuke, as he navigates early 1900s england as a japanese law student. the games are also notable for heavily featuring characters from the sherlock holmes series as main characters.

previously, this duology was only available in japan for the 3DS. the english language collection interestingly changes a few of the japanese names, despite the protagonists not getting this treatment at all. some of the names had to be changed for copyright purposes though, since at the time of release a portion of the sherlock holmes novels were still copyrighted by the conan doyle estate.

this is the first collection that introduced the quality of life improvements that every collection following now has, such as story mode and the ability to disable screen flashing. it also includes DLC from the second game that allows you to change the protagonists' outfits, and a gallery of concept art.

the majority of this game's events take place in 1900. for information on this game's events, refer to that part of the timeline (section heavily wip :( sorry)
