Based on the recommendations of the Joint Committee on Atomic Energy, deployment of Jupiter missiles to Turkey is cancelled. While the Jupiter are still installed in Italy to appease NATO, Nixon increases the number of Polaris-equipped subs in the Mediterranean, under the Sixth Fleet, to make up for Turkey.
