Packard (18) & Lovell (24) were hitchhiking along the west coast. They planned to eventually go to the World's Fair in Seattle, WA, then visit Lovell's relatives in Missoula, Montana, where she was from.

Packard called his family from Stinson Beach, CA on June 10.
On June 20, one of Packard's traveler's checks was cashed at a store in Westport, CA (~4hrs north of Stinson Beach), though it's possible that a) Lovell wasn't with him, and/or b) someone else cashed his check. Either way, this is the last sign of Packard & Lovell
