oct 26, 1969 - Nancy Marie Bennallack
BREAK-IN & HOMICIDE
Description:
At 11:30pm on Monday, October 25, 1969, her fiance, Farris Salamy, left Nancy Bennallack, 28, at her second-story apartment at the Tahitian apartment complex at 1830 Bell St in Sacramento.
She was then murdered either late on Oct 25, after her fiance left at 11:30pm, or in the early morning hours of Oct 26. The murderer likely gained access to her apartment through her window, which she kept open for her cat to come and go. She was stabbed more than 30 times and nearly decapitated. There was a blood trail from the assailant -- believed to be from his hand or arm -- from Bennallack's apartment to the parking lot, where it ended.
In 2022, genetic genealogy was used on this blood, identifying Richard John Davis, a man — 27 years old at the time of the murder — who also lived at the Tahitian apartments, as Nancy's murderer.
Many have speculated that her murder is connected to that of Judith Hakari. From early on, the murders of Hakari, Bennallack, Susan Lynch, and Carol Hilburn had been suspected to be tied to each other by the press.
