may 1, 1994 - Brenda Ann Tucker
ABDUCTION, RAPE,
& HOMICIDE
Description:
Brenda Tucker, 29, went missing in May 1994 from her home in Oroville, Butte County, CA. She was reported missing after her clothing was found neatly folded by a creek in the Rackerby area, and her car discovered in the parking lot of a Brownsville market.
In February 2001, Brenda's partial skeletal remains found by loggers in Yuba County, including most of her skull with a gunshot wound to the back of the head. The weapon was likely of medium caliber, such as a .38-caliber or 9 mm pistol.
Herman Lee Hobbs is her likely killer. Despite DNA found from semen stains on Tucker's black pants matching Hobbs's DNA, a judge dismissed the case in 2002 for lack of evidence.
In 2023, Herman Lee Hobbs was arrested for Holly Ann Campiglia's 1980 murder; had already been serving a sentence of 25yrs-life for the 2000 rape of a 15yo girl in Yuba County, and an additional 25-life sentence for raping & murdering 13yo Terri Pata in 1975 that he received in 2005.
A probation report submitted in the Pata case said that Hobbs was a suspect in at least 5 killings.
In 2001, it was stated that investigators were looking into a series of homicides that they believe Hobbs may have been involved in, dating back to 1974. Those cases include the 1997 disappearance of Jennifer Lynn Wallis, 35, and span numerous jurisdictions.
