jan 2, 1492 - (1492 ) The end of the Reconquest

Description:

1492 AD: On January 2, 1492, Boabdil, the last sultan of the Nasrid Kingdom of Granada, surrendered the the city of Granada to Ferdinand and Isabella putting an end to the Reconquista. The initial terms of surrender guaranteed the remaining Muslims their property, laws, customs, and religion. However, approximately 200,000 Muslims emigrated to North Africa following Granada's fall. The Jews, who had experienced a period of tolerance under Muslim rule in the Iberian Peninsula, faced expulsion by the Christian monarchy in 1492, marking the end of this era of coexistence.
