On Chandilar, a technologically advanced species called the Shi'ar rises in the Triangulum Galaxy. Over thousands of years, they develop a mult-phase transduction lattice which resonates with interstitial manifold energies of the Power Cosmic. These artificial M'kraan crystals are capable of converting these energies into an astounding amount of energy, and are used in every aspect of their technology. Their fleets descend upon planets, defeating their defences and either wiping them out or absorbing them into their empire. Within a few thousand years of becoming a space faring species, they have successfully absorbed their entire galaxy into their empire.
