jun 5, 1967 - Operation Focus

Description:

Operation Focus, Israel's opening airstrike in the Six-Day War on June 5, 1967, started at 07:45 under Maj. Gen. Mordechai Hod. The Israeli Air Force (IAF) destroyed most of the Egyptian Air Force and then bombed Syrian and Jordanian air bases. By noon, 450 Egyptian, Jordanian, and Syrian aircraft were destroyed, and 18 Egyptian airfields were disabled, achieving near-total air supremacy.

The IAF used nearly 200 jets, including Dassault models, in three main waves. They destroyed 452 enemy aircraft, mainly on the ground, supporting Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) effectively. Success was due to rocket-assisted anti-runway warheads that created sinkholes, grounding aircraft and enabling further attacks.
