Description:
Xerxes' story starts with the second Persian invasion of Greece. It was lead by King Xerxes I of Persia who was seeking revenge for the defeat of the First Persian invasion at the Battle of Marathon. Xerxes planned this invasion for years and grew his army and navy power. But, the Spartan and Athenian alliance withstood his attacks and the Battle of Thermopylae defines the defeat and withdrawal of Xerxes' army to Salamis.
