mar 22, 1765 - The Stamp Act

Description:

Looking to pay off debts from the Seven Years War, the British Parliament Implemented the stamp act. The Stamp act required all printed materials imported into the US to be taxed. This outraged the colonies. The act was eventually repealed in 1766. However, the damage had already been done. The anger of the colonies had led to the creation of sayings such as “No taxation without representation”, and the founding of groups such as the sons of liberty. With the colonial opposition rising, the stage was set for America to evolve as a country. This sparked the beginning of the American Revolution.
