jul 6, 1917 - Jul 6 1917: Lawrence and Feisal seize Akaba

Description:

British Intelligence Officer of the Middle East Command, T.E. Lawrence, was dispatched to Arabia to identify which of Sharif Hussein's sons would be fit to lead.

Lawrence appoints Sharif Feisal to advisor, stayed with him for 2 years and helped him to lead the Arabs north from the Hejaz to Syria.

The two seized Akaba, then Lawrence went to Cairo and met with General Sir Edmund Allenby, leader of Britain's Egyptian Expeditionary Force. They agreed that Feisal's Arab forces would be helpful to Allenby's campaign in Palestine.
