The most infamous of Capone's many bloodlettings was the St. Valentine's Day massacre in which Capone's men gunned down a rival gang while dressed as police officers. This impacted American Society because it reached national media coverage and demonstrated to the entire country that the competition between gangs during the prohibition was getting even bloodier as time went on.
