Within the Chamber, Snape and Harry argue, with Harry refusing to leave until he's found Ginny. It's revealed why Harry has been so temperamental; ("I will not be the one to return you to your mother in bits and pieces!" '"Oh like she'd even care! She has a new kid anyway!" "Is that what this is about? Is that what this has always been about?! Have you deluded yourself into thinking that Lily doesn't love you anymore simply because she's has another child?!""That's not how it works, Potter, you stupid child! Lily would be devastated to loose you--in any way!") Harry shrugs off the argument and leads the way deeper into the Chamber. When Lockhart steals Ron's wand, he and Snape have a faceoff (with Snape throwing his arm in front of Harry protectively.) Snape drags Lockhart, causing Lockhart to foolishly attempt to curse Snape. It backfires, causing the collapse. Harry and Severus end up on the same side, and argue about what to do. Harry eventually stalks off deeper into the Chamber.
