1. Increased Zionism (Jews wanted their own place to live)
1. Many Jews fled to Palestine after persecution, and antisemitism. (ex. Holocaust)
Palestine used to be under Ottoman rule so its home to many Muslims.
Since British owned Palestine (and created the Balfour Declaration which seemed to support a Jewish state, so the Jews were happy).

UN decided to partition Palestine giving some land to the Jews. (Israel).

Muslims were not happy that the Jews were taking their land led to many many conflicts (and still does today)
