I lwk just put a random date but Prince henry lived from ( 1395-1460) He brought sailors, map makers, ship builders, etc. He figured out how to sail down the Atlantic coast of Africa (accessed west African gold) then continued past West Africa to the Indian Ocean.

He's practically what sparked Portuguese to become big traders (maritime)

Prtugese created trading post empires (colonies wayy too much work and money) He set up trading post throughout the Indian ocean (called factories)
- Caravels (ship) and gunpowder helped with this.
