the flame of the desert burns the thriving ecosystem to the ground, leaving dry dirt and hot wind. slowly, the plants adapted, and the animals adapted. Lizards grew large and hardy. plants grew prickly and sturdy. humans adapted with heat proof scales. but thos that adapted grew to worship the flame. some wanted to study it's magic, some wanted to discover how to snuff it out. but that is for later
