oct 7, 1763 - The Proclamation of 1763 October 7, 1763

Description:

The Proclamation of 1763 was issued by King George III on October 7, 1763 and forbade any American colonist from settling past a line drawn along the Appalachian Mountains. Britain had gained a huge amount of land in the Ohio River Valley as a result of the 1763 Treaty of Paris, but they prevented settlers from moving into it to try to prevent conflict with the existing French population there and the Native Americans in the area. This move angered the American colonists because their blood was shed fighting the French and Indian War for that land, and then they were forbid from actually using it.
