jul 26, 1968 - The Theatres Act
Description:
Before the Bill, Theatres had to be approved by the Lord Chamberlain.
However after the play Saved was banned, Roy Jenkins and Labour backbencher George Strauss pushed for a bill that would ban censorship in theatres.
The Bill passed with little opposition, with the controversial musical Hair, due to use of nudity, preforming later in the UK after the Bill.
