jan 1, 1532 - Francisco Pizarro crushes Incas
Description:
In 1532, Francisco Pizarro launched an attack on the Incan empire in Peru, establishing Spanish control and the encomienda system. His expedition and expeditions like it devastated American native tribes but brought much wealth to Spain, flooding coffers with New World silver. The surplus set a sort of price revolution into motion which stimulated commerce and manufacturing in the coming centuries, laying the foundation for the modern banking system and capitalism. As in Mexico, conquistadores in Peru intermarried and had mestizo babies, producing a unique combination of cultures from the Old and New Worlds.
