This Order was established by President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1965 to prohibited discrimination in the employment process and workplace discrimination by race, or religion.
Today, Executive Order 11246 requires affirmative action and prohibits federal contractors from discriminating on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or national origin.
