jul 1, 1845 - The Devon Commission Report

Description:

Lord Devon was appointed to investigate the issue of land tenure. The report highlighted the problems of short leases hampering land improvements, evictions, population growth and high rent. There were no incentives for tenants to improve their holdings. No legislation resulted from it as there was too much opposition.
