jan 12, 1915 - Birth Of A Nation (The Most Controversial Film Of All Time)

Description:

In 1915 a successful director called D.W Griffith made a film called Birth Of A Nation. Griffith originally tried to be a theatre actor. Unfortunately he failed and as was custom back then he went to try and act in films as acting in films was regarded as a thing that failed actors would do. Whilst he was acting acting he decided to start directing and made his first film in 1907. He continued to make narrative short films that were revolutionary as they touched on really dark topics that had never been explored in film yet. Unfortunately D.W Griffith was a racist. His biggest film Birth of a nation was a revolutionary film and was the first film to feature war scenes. It could has been the most influential films of all time. But unfortunately it will go down in history as being the most controversial films of all time. This is because in the film D.W Griffiths portrayed black people as being nasty criminals who stole, sexually assaulted people and murdered. He also used the Klu Klux Klan as the heroes of the story. Today not many people talk about of this film because of how offensive. BE we still have to acknowledge how revolutionary from a camera techniques perspective.
