Description:

Until this point, emeralds had been the main currency in Inostropia. However, the use of nautilus shells brought several advantages. First, they were harder to obtain in survival mode, and second, they had little practical use in the normal survival environment, making them well-suited to serve as a stable form of currency. As a result, nautilus shells were considered a practical choice for becoming the new official money.
