apr 6, 1712 - New York slave rebellion
Description:
The rebellion was instigated by African American slaves who called for a war against Christians. A fire was set in Manhattan to signal the beginning of the revolt. When the white people came out of their houses, they were surrounded by armed slaves who shot into the crowd, causing panic. Some people could run away to have the army alarmed and upon their arrival, the slaves ran north. The rebellion resulted in executions and stricter slave codes.
The slaves could organise this revolt, because in New York city it was possible for them to contact each other.
