jan 1, 1942 - Double V Campaign

Description:

The “Double V” was a campaign ran by the Pittsburgh Courier during WWII. The campaign demanded that African Americans, who were risking their lives in the war, be given full citizenship rights at home. This idea spread fast and led to Double V dances and parades all over the US. The campaign foreshadowed the activism that would characterize the civil rights movement.
