The Seneca Falls Convention, held in 1848 in Seneca Falls, New York, was the first women's rights convention in the United States, organized by Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott. It marked the beginning of the organized women's rights movement in America, famously producing the Declaration of Sentiments, which declared the equality of men and women and listed grievances including women's lack of access to education and employment, and the denial of the right to vote.
