may 23, 1939 - Release of 1939 White Papers
Description:
Following the unrest of the Arab Revolt, Britain adopts a policy which calls for independent Jewish and Arab states, while places serious limits on Jewish immigration. This was done in part to appease Arabs, which the British knew they would need support from when WWII would inevitably reach the Middle East. Depsite this becoming Britian's official policy, it was rejected by both Arabs and Jews.
