may 18, 1933 - Tennessee Valley Authority
Description:
Goal: Modernize the Tennessee Valley, using experts and electricity to combat human and economic problems.
How: TVA developed fertilizers, and taught farmers ways to improve crop yields. Helped replant forests, control forest fires, and improve habitats for fish and wildlife. Gave thousands electricity for the first time.
Viewed as one of the single greatest successes of the First New Deal! Still exists today! The TVA causes people to put more faith/have a closer relationship with the federal government, as they began living their lives off electricity from a damn built by the US government. Also, it created jobs!
