Jay's Treaty is approved. This treaty with Britain removed British troops from forts they agreed to vacate during the Treaty of Paris. The treaty was generally unpopular with the American public, do to not dealing with impressment and other issues of the time. (pictured Chief Justice John Jay, who negotiated the treaty)
