The Shi'ar city of Polaria is completely covered over by an ice sheet during an period of extreme cooling. The thermal force field that had been keeping the ice from forming maintains a protective bubble over the city and it's lands a kilometer high, under which the flora and fauna continue to live beneath the ice dome.
