Matthew Cullen is the director of London Fields.

At this time he was hoping to resurrect the film with a Director’s Cut - the only version released as of April 2019 being a badly reviewed and loss making Producer’s Cut.

Matthew Cullen and Amber Heard had both been sued by the London Fields Producers and had settled - so maybe he was looking to salvage something of his reputation and/or costs. It does seem he had Ms Heard’s support as she had pushed for a Director’s Cut way back in 2015/2016 and he was using photographs taken by Savannah McMillan.

There is an element of ‘PR jacking’ in Mr Cullen’s timing as Amber Heard’s name had been in the headlines in relation to the Defamation Case filed by Johnny Depp in Virginia - her application to dismiss that contained further accusations of domestic abuse had gone viral and remained in the news cycle for over a week.
