jan 1, 1542 - Witchcraft Act

Description:

Henry VIII passed this Act, imposing the death sentence for witchcraft as a crime against the state. Witches were Henry's scapegoats; poverty was very bad at the time, but the public blamed witches instead of the king, and people who were doing reasonably well in their communities were said to be using witchcraft.
