Description:
More than 5,000 Texans died in the war, many from an influenza, or flu, epidemic in 1918. Many of those who survived the war were changed by their experiences. Many recruits from farms and ranches received their first medical and dental care. Many soldiers were eager to find new opportunities when they returned home.
