Description:

The French fort of Louisbourg was stationed at the center of the St. Lawrence River, essential to capture if the British wanted to take French Canada. The British, commanded by General Amherst and James Wolfe brought up 11,000 troops to go against 6,000 french. Weather and the the French guarding every entrance delayed the British on June 8, but they were able to find an entrance and seized the fort. The French troops retreated, hoping to rely on their naval power, but the British were able to set fire to the ships. The British went away with a victory.
