political tensions:
. The CPC (communist party of Czechoslovakia), led by Klement Gottweld, was gaining strength.
. Stalin ordered that the CPC would be in coalition with the National Social Party => communists took over the police and military

MAY 1946: communists won 38% of vote, emerging as the largest party
