Three days later, on August 9, after the bombing of Hiroshima, the Bockscar dropped the Fat Man on Nagasaki, also annihilating the city in mere minutes. Only a month after this, V-J Day would be declared on September 2, 1945, ending the war in the Pacific Theatre and officially ending World War II. Finally, Tsutomu Yamaguchi was sent to Nagasaki to recover from his injuries at Hiroshima, but the Fat Man was dropped on Nagasaki as he was only a few miles outside the atomic radius. Tsutomu Yamaguchi lived to 93 and died in 2013.
