Description:

Agaunum was an outpost in Roman Switzerland, predecessor of the modern city of Saint-Maurice in the canton of Valais, southwestern Switzerland.

6,666 Christians supposedly martyred here in 286 according to Eucherius who died in 486.

Remnants of the basilica built in their honor can still be seen today.
