The seizure of Fort Ticonderoga was the first offensive victory for American troops in the Revolutionary War. The Green Mountain Boys, together with Benedict Arnold, surprised and caught a small British post at the fort. In the process, gaining valuable weapons for the Continental Army. This victory was vital in showing the citizens of the colonies that there is a chance at winning the war. After the siege, Benedict Arnold took command of fort Ticonderoga for some time.
