The Battle of Midway was a five day battle, fought on the days 3-7 of June, 1942. It was mostly fought over water in the Pacific Ocean. Japan's hope was to defeat the US Pacific Fleet and remove America from dominant power. Then, they were hoping to launch more attacks on Pearl Harbor. But after a 5 day naval battle, the US ended up winning and securing dominance and control. This battle was important because it stopped the growth in Japan and it began to shrink their empire. It also stopped Japan's frequent island hoppong in US territory.Added to timeline:
