jun 1, 1921 - Aaland Islands (border dispute)
Description:
A border dispute between Sweden and Finland over a small island between the 2 countries. Historically, the islands belonged to Finland, but the population within the island wanted to be Swedish because they felt more associated with Sweden and spoke Swedish.
The island was given to Finland and was put under sanctions, along with being demilitarised to make sure no further conflict took place.
This is a rare success of the LON within border disputes!
