jan 1, 750 - Abbasid Revolution
Description:
Due to mass discontent and unrest from the conquered peoples of the Umayyad Empire, angry over their treatment, the already weakened dynasty would be overthrown in 750.
This discontent came from the vast numbers of Christians living in the empire, the culturally and historically powerful Persian populace and Shi'ite dissidents among others.
A devastating succession crisis and various uprisings weakened the fragile state and ultimately the Abbasid dynasty were able to use the feelings of anger and unrest to propel themselves to power.
