oct 28, 1959 - The Grand Cairo Theater

Description:

A grand theater built in the style of an Egyptian pyramid is build in downtown Snake Hill at the behest of Janet and Edward Gideon, who had just returned from an archeological dig in Egypt and felt the need to "share their adventure with the mases". Despite several protests at town meetings about how much of an eyesore it would be and how "a pyramid doesn't belong in rural Virginia, Edward!" the construction went through regardless. The Theater boasts five screens rooms, a stage room, a lounge, and a snack stand serving "Egyptian Delicacies".
