Description:

The Largest terrorist attacks in modern history and the most deadly. Four planes are hijacked in United States Airspace with three hitting their targets. Both the North and South Tower of the World Trade Center are destroyed as well as a significant part of the Pentagon.

On the fourth aircraft; passengers become aware of the plans of the hijackers and take back control of the plane, causing it to crash in a field in Pennsylvania, killing all onboard.

Two months later the United States, after issuing an ultimatum to the Taliban, invade Afghanistan. This is primarily in search of Osama Bin Laden who orchestrated the attacks and was being sheltered by the Taliban government. He flees to Pakistan soon afterwards and narrowly avoids capture. This is the beginning of the "War on Terror".

In the days before the attacks, Ahmad Shah Massoud, leader of the resistance against the Taliban in the North of the country, is assassinated by Al-Qaeda agents posing as journalists. This is likely done to curry favour with the Taliban, whose protection they are dependent on.
