Description:
Queen of Palmyra, Zenobia took advantage of Roman decline in the 3rd century to form her own Empire in Syria, Egypt and Anatolia. In the wake of her husband's death she struck out against her former Roman allies, impressing and devastating them. Her realm would be known for intellectual and cultural achievements made possible by her stewardship.
She would eventually be defeated but was highly respected as an adversary and allowed to live the rest of her life in Rome.
