Johnny Depp Says 'Truth' About Amber Heard Abuse Allegations 'Will Come Out'

The beef between ex-spouses Johnny Depp and Amber Heard is far from over. The three-time Academy Award nominee spoke on the abuse allegations his ex-wife made ahead of their divorce's finalization.

After meeting on the set of 2011's The Rum Diary, the pair married in February 2015. By May 2016, Heard filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. The split was finalized in January 2017. Heard received $7 million as a part of the pair's settlement deal, which she donated to the American Civil Liberties Union and the Children's Hospital Los Angeles.

In appearing as British GQ's cover star for its November issue, Depp who denied the allegations, said they didn't even sound like him.

"Initially, I just kept my mouth shut. I know it was going to stick on me and it would get weirder. Keep going, you know? Go nuts," Depp, 55, told British GQ. "I ain't going to get into a pissing contest with someone about it. Spit out what you need to spit out, my attorneys will take care of the rest. I never went and spoke about the s—t."

The Alice in Wonderland actor explained how he felt Heard's accusations made "people look at me differently," adding: "People start putting things in magazines: 'He's insane. He needs a sanity test…' You know, ludicrous stuff. But the only thing that I could do was know what I still know. Ultimately, the truth will come out in all of this and I will be standing on the right side of the roaring rapids. I hope other people will be too."

At the time of their separation, Depp and Heard released a joint statement. The former couple agreed to handle the split privately.

"Our relationship was intensely passionate and at times volatile, but always bound by love. Neither party has made false accusations for financial gain. There was never any intent of physical or emotional harm," the statement read, according to BuzzFeed News. "Amber wishes the best for Johnny in the future. Amber will be donating financial proceeds from the divorce to a charity. There will be no further public statements about this matter."

The statement seemingly fails to confirm or deny whether any acts of abuse had actually occurred during the pair's relationship.

Depp and Heard's messy divorce quickly became tabloid fodder. He last spoke about his dealings with Heard, who's set to appear in Aquaman on December 14, in a June profile with Rolling Stone, where the Pirates of the Caribbean actor detailed how his divorce and financial issues being publicized affected him.

"I was as low as I believe I could have gotten. The next step was, 'You're going to arrive somewhere with your eyes open, and you're going to leave there with your eyes closed,'" Depp shared with Rolling Stone. "I couldn't take the pain every day."
